IT Category Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a leading organisation to appoint an IT Category Manager on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. The role will own a substantial IT spend portfolio, covering software, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital services and consultancy, and will be responsible for delivering value, savings and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement IT category strategies that drive cost savings, service improvements and risk reduction.
• Lead the full procurement lifecycle – from tendering and supplier selection to negotiations, due diligence and contract management.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships and continuously optimise supplier performance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to shape sourcing decisions and procurement approaches.
• Negotiate commercial agreements that balance cost, risk, service quality and long‑term business objectives.
• Oversee supplier onboarding and implementation activities.

Required profile

• Significant experience in IT procurement or category management.
• Proven track record of managing complex sourcing projects and commercial negotiations.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• CIPS qualification or working towards it is desirable.
