IT Field Engineer – Manchester

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing managed services provider, is seeking an IT Field Engineer to join their Manchester‑based team. This is a hands‑on position that blends on‑site installations and support across the UK with remote ticket handling and project work.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver on‑site technical support, including installations, configuration and troubleshooting.
• Provide 1st/2nd line support via phone, email and ticketing when off‑site.
• Maintain server infrastructure, Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Manage Microsoft 365 and Exchange environments, including MFA and security best practices.
• Work with networking technologies such as TCP/IP, VLANs and firewalls (FortiGate, Cisco, SonicWall, WatchGuard).
• Support backup solutions (Azure Backup, Veeam) and virtualised environments (Hyper‑V, VMware, AVD, RDS).
• Contribute to project roll‑outs, migrations, deployments and office moves.
• Escalate and resolve complex issues alongside senior engineers.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a comparable IT role.
• Strong foundation across networking, server, endpoint, cloud and security.
• Experience working in an MSP or customer‑facing support environment.
• Clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the UK.
• Mac support experience is a plus but not essential.
