IT Hardware Technician Apprentice

About the role

Northumbria Healthcare Digital Services is looking for a motivated individual to join its Hardware Team as an IT Hardware Technician Apprentice. You will help maintain and deploy PC equipment, software and mobile devices across the Trust, supporting the move towards paper‑free patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support for all PC equipment, software and mobile devices, including installation of hardware, software and peripherals.
• Investigate routine enquiries from staff and offer assistance and advice.
• Order, install and configure new desktop computers and mobile devices.
• Maintain the asset database and related documentation.
• Ensure new equipment is correctly installed and configured.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic service‑desk calls.
• Update systems to track the lifecycle of IT assets.

Required profile

• 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A‑C), including Maths and English.
• No existing qualification at the same or higher level as the apprenticeship.
• Ability to provide official documentation for any international qualifications.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Windows‑based operating systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office suite.
• Understanding of desktop equipment such as PCs, laptops, printers, tablets and phones.
