IT Manager – Education Sector (Northwich)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead the IT function for a group of four schools in Northwich, Cheshire. This full‑time, temporary role involves hands‑on technical work, team leadership and close collaboration with school stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support day‑to‑day IT operations across four school sites.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of three IT Technicians.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Ensure IT infrastructure, systems and services operate effectively and securely.
• Collaborate with the IT Director on projects and service improvements.
• Maintain Microsoft cloud and infrastructure technologies.
• Monitor system performance, availability and security.
• Build strong relationships with school leadership and key stakeholders.
• Support technology upgrades, deployments and digital transformation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an IT Manager, Senior IT Technician or IT Team Lead role.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience managing or mentoring technical support staff.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work across multiple locations and manage competing priorities.

What we offer

• £300 per day (inside IR35).
