IT Support Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an IT Support Engineer to join a technical support team in Didcot. The role involves providing help‑desk assistance, maintaining and troubleshooting customers’ IT infrastructure, and delivering high‑quality service both on‑site and remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Provide help‑desk support to end‑users via telephone and email, resolving hardware, software and network issues.
• Troubleshoot and repair desktops, laptops, servers and peripheral devices.
• Manage user accounts and permissions in Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory.
• Support LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, TCP/IP configurations, firewalls and backup technologies.
• Deploy and configure operating systems, apply updates and patches.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
• Maintain documentation of support activities and system configurations.
• Collaborate on projects such as network upgrades, hardware replacements and software rollouts.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with a proactive problem‑resolution attitude.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non‑technical users.
• Proven experience in desktop support and hardware troubleshooting across Windows, macOS and Linux.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high support standards.
• Capable of working independently and organising own time effectively.
