IT Support Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an IT Support Team Leader to join a well‑established, award‑winning business in Luton. The role combines hands‑on technical work with leadership of a small support team, ensuring day‑to‑day IT operations run smoothly while the IT Manager focuses on strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Line‑manage, mentor and develop a small IT support team, conducting one‑to‑ones and performance reviews.
• Oversee daily team administration, including holiday planning, absence management and site cover.
• Monitor the helpdesk queue, allocate tickets and ensure resolution within service‑level agreements.
• Act as senior technical escalation point for complex network, server and infrastructure issues.
• Maintain and support network infrastructure, servers and cloud‑based systems.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and ensure high system availability.
• Lead smaller technical projects such as hardware upgrades, software updates and security improvements.
• Assist the IT Manager with larger project deliveries, testing, deployments and implementations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in IT support with a track record of leading a team.
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Hands‑on approach combined with strategic thinking.
• Willingness to work on‑site three days a week in a hybrid model.
