Java 17 Developer – Investment Banking & Kafka

About the role

We are partnering with a leading investment bank to hire an experienced Java 17 Developer for a six‑month contract. The role sits within a front‑office trading technology team, delivering high‑performance trade processing solutions in a fast‑paced, low‑latency environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise high‑throughput trade processing systems.
• Collaborate with Front Office, Trading and Quant teams to deliver robust technical solutions.
• Build scalable, event‑driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
• Develop containerised microservices deployed on Kubernetes.
• Maintain system reliability and performance on Linux/Unix platforms.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews and best‑practice sharing.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java, preferably Java 17.
• Proven background in investment banking or capital markets.
• Experience with trade processing or Trade Runner platforms.
• Ability to work directly with Front Office trading desks.
