Java Backend Developer – Remote (6‑month contract)

About the role

Join the Data Infrastructure team to lead large‑scale pipeline migrations and core platform development across a Flink and Lakehouse architecture. This fully remote, six‑month contract seeks an execution‑focused engineer who can quickly dive into existing codebases, work autonomously, and deliver high‑quality software.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise Java‑based backend services for data pipelines.
• Migrate and modernise existing pipelines to a Flink/Lakehouse environment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable data processing at scale.
• Implement cost‑optimisation strategies on Google Cloud Platform.
• Maintain code quality through testing, code reviews, and documentation.

Required profile

• Strong ability to work independently in ambiguous situations.
• Proactive problem‑solver who can deliver results without extensive direction.
• Urgent availability for immediate short‑term engagement.
