Java Developer (Remote, UK)

About the role

Our clients are seeking Java Developers to join their teams, with a free training pathway that leads directly to employment. The position is primarily remote within the UK, with one day per fortnight required on-site in London or Manchester.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and assure key application components to support the refactoring of legacy software systems.
• Collaborate with consultant specialists, client engineers, and programme teams to execute migration plans.
• Write clean, maintainable code using Java and Spring in a UNIX environment.
• Utilise GitLab for source control, continuous integration, and code reviews.
• Identify code optimisations, fix technical defects, and support quality‑assurance testing.
• Contribute to technical implementation documentation and system architecture updates.

Required profile

• Strong technical background with foundational experience in software engineering.
• Core proficiency in Java development, ideally with hands‑on experience using the Spring framework.
• Practical familiarity with UNIX environments and writing standard shell commands.
• Experience querying and working with SQL databases.
• Familiarity with Git workflows and version control management using GitLab.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and eagerness to contribute to complex system migrations.
