Junior Estimator

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Estimator to join a well‑established engineering business in Braintree, Essex. The role supports the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for projects, products and services, working closely with the sales team, internal departments and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Produce quotations from technical drawings and specifications in response to customer requests.
• Research and present cost‑saving opportunities through supply‑chain, fabrication and value‑engineering methods.
• Assist the sales team at customer meetings and contribute to technical and commercial presentations.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external contractors to develop accurate tender costs.
• Engage suppliers to deliver value‑for‑money solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Maintain tender compliance documentation and track project costs.
• Present estimating analysis and recommendations to the management team.

Required profile

• Methodical and organised approach to work.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural or engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical mindset and good mathematical skills.
• Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets and word‑processing programmes.
• Good IT literacy and ability to coordinate work across teams.
