Junior Field Service Technician – Edinburgh

About the role

Join a leading UK designer and installer of bespoke physical security products as a Junior Field Service Technician. Based in Edinburgh (or Glasgow), you will spend your days on customer sites, working independently to install, maintain and repair security systems while gaining hands‑on experience alongside senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with planned preventative maintenance and reactive service visits.
• Support the installation and commissioning of security hardware.
• Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
• Complete job reports using a company‑issued tablet.
• Maintain vehicle stock, tools, and equipment.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements and company procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service during all site visits.
• Support senior technicians and collaborate with colleagues across the business.

Required profile

• Keen interest in engineering, mechanical or electrical systems.
• Previous hands‑on technical or customer‑facing experience (advantageous but not essential).
• Basic IT skills and confidence using mobile devices or tablets.
• Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
