Junior Packaging Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Packaging Engineer to join a leading global manufacturer in Folkestone. This full‑time, temporary position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced FMCG environment, supporting the creation and launch of innovative packaging solutions for consumer products.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory and packaging tests, experiments, and trial activities following established procedures.
• Assist in developing, evaluating, and validating new packaging concepts and materials.
• Collect, analyse, and interpret test data, producing accurate technical reports and documentation.
• Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, specifications, and results.
• Coordinate packaging trials and support the introduction of new packaging into production.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, quality, and external suppliers on product development projects.
• Troubleshoot packaging issues on production lines and propose practical solutions.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in testing methods, packaging performance, and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• A degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Packaging Technology, Food Science, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional teamwork.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, sustainability principles and basic packaging regulations is advantageous.
