Junior Software Engineer (UK)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join Sophos’ Security Features team. You will work on production‑grade code that protects millions of customers worldwide, gaining hands‑on experience across the full software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain TypeScript code for both frontend (Vue, React, Angular) and backend services.
• Design, implement and optimise APIs that query, aggregate and serve data at scale.
• Debug production incidents, improve system performance, reliability and code quality.
• Learn and apply Infrastructure as Code principles using Terraform to build cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver new features from concept to deployment.

Required profile

• Early‑career professional eager to learn by doing.
• Strong curiosity, flexibility and problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to break down complex problems and translate them into clean code.

Required skills

• TypeScript programming.
• Experience or familiarity with Vue, React or Angular.
• Basic understanding of backend service development.
• Knowledge of Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
