Junior Software Project Engineer – Automation (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Project Engineer to join a leading engineering services provider in the South West. You will work on a variety of industrial automation projects for highly regulated sectors such as food & beverage, pharmaceutical and chemical, receiving structured training and clear career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of industrial automation and software projects from quotation to commissioning.
• Produce technical documentation including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), RAMS and project quotations.
• Develop and modify PLC, HMI and SCADA software.
• Support commissioning, fault‑finding and installation activities on site.
• Collaborate closely with customers, engineers and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in software, controls, automation or electrical engineering.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Strong IT proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
