Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support

About the role

We are partnering with a welcoming primary school in Harrow to hire a Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a September start. The role focuses on providing 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder while also delivering small-group interventions and speech-and-language activities across Key Stage 1.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Deliver small-group interventions to enhance academic progress.
• Run speech and language activities under the guidance of the school’s SEN team.
• Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Encourage independence and engagement in learning.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and adapt support to meet individual needs.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other additional needs.
• Experience delivering interventions or supporting speech and language development.
• Patient, caring and proactive attitude.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to helping every child achieve their full potential.
