Kitchen Assistant (Care Home)

About the role

As a Kitchen Assistant at Braintree Mews Care Home, you will help deliver safe, nutritious meals and beverages to our residents. Working closely with the catering team, you will maintain high standards of hygiene and support a pleasant dining experience for all.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and plating meals and drinks according to dietary requirements.
• Ensure the kitchen and work areas are kept clean and comply with food safety regulations.
• Monitor stock levels, report any shortages, and help with ordering replacements.
• Follow health and safety procedures, including moving and handling, fire safety, and COSHH guidelines.
• Treat residents and visitors with respect, preserving their dignity and individuality.

Required profile

• Demonstrates caring, supportive, honest, respectful and accountable values.
• Physically able to sustain a demanding workload and perform repetitive tasks.
• Shows initiative, flexibility and a positive attitude towards teamwork.
• Committed to delivering a high level of service to residents.

Required skills

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling techniques.
• Understanding of Fire Safety procedures.
• Familiarity with COSHH assessments.
