Kitchen Assistant – Care Home

About the role

We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our award‑winning team at Braintree Mews Care Home. In this part‑time role you will help prepare meals and beverages for our residents, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and cooking according to recipes and dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and follow safe food handling procedures.
• Keep the kitchen and storage areas clean, tidy and organised.
• Support ordering and stock control of kitchen supplies.
• Respect residents’ dignity and individuality while serving meals.

Required profile

• Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate good personal hygiene.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH.
• Ability to work efficiently under a demanding workload and sustain physical effort.
• Positive, flexible attitude and strong team spirit.
• Caring approach towards residents and their visitors.
