Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our brand‑new luxury care home in Matlock, Derbyshire. You will help deliver high‑quality meals for 78 residents in a clean, safe and well‑organised kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef with food preparation and cooking to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and to a high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen areas, complying with food safety regulations.
• Receive, store and organise deliveries and stock, ensuring proper rotation and inventory control.
• Support the kitchen team with equipment set‑up, cleaning and routine maintenance.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and step in during alternate weekends as required.

Required profile

• Positive, reliable attitude with good attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work alternate weekends.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.

Required skills

• Food safety and hygiene knowledge.

What we offer

• £12.71 per hour (enhanced overtime rate).
• 36‑hour contracted week with 5.6 weeks annual leave (full‑time equivalent).
