Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Agincare is seeking a reliable and organised Kitchen Assistant to join its care home team on Hayling Island. This is a bank (zero‑hour) position within the health and social care sector, offering flexible shifts and the chance to develop catering skills in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the chef in preparing healthy, balanced meals and snacks, adhering to dietary requirements and allergen guidelines.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, complying with COSHH regulations and health‑and‑safety protocols.
• Work both as part of a team and independently, managing time effectively during shifts.
• Engage with residents, providing courteous service and clear communication about meals.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a catering or food‑service environment (care home experience not essential).
• Basic knowledge of food safety and COSHH regulations.
• Caring, self‑motivated and enthusiastic attitude with the ability to show empathy.
