Kitchen Manager – Educational Catering

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Kitchen Manager to run the catering operation within an educational setting in Swindon. The role involves overseeing food production, ensuring high‑quality meals, and promoting healthy, balanced menus for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day kitchen operations, including staff scheduling, food preparation and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, HACCP and all statutory regulations.
• Plan menus, control stock, oversee ordering, storage and portion control.
• Prepare and supervise nutritious meals that meet national standards.
• Monitor budgets, track costs, income and waste, and implement cost‑saving measures.
• Lead, train and support catering staff, handling rota management and performance records.
• Maintain cleanliness standards and keep accurate records of stock, wastage and performance.
• Promote the service through themed menus and initiatives to increase uptake.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen management role, preferably in an educational environment.
• Strong leadership and organisational abilities.
• Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP and nutritional standards.
• Ability to manage budgets and work efficiently under pressure.
