Kitchen Porter – Kitchen Cleaning & Support

About the role

The Kitchen Porter ensures the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen environment, supporting the culinary team by maintaining all washing and waste‑handling equipment. This role is essential for smooth kitchen operations and compliance with health‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain dishwashing machines, hand‑wash stations, pot‑scrubbing stations and trash compactors.
• Wash, disinfect and store kitchen tools, knives, silverware and other equipment using the 3‑compartment sink and appropriate chemicals.
• Inspect, pull, stack and re‑wash items that do not meet cleanliness standards.
• Rinse and spray racked items with hot water to remove food residue.
• Break down dirty bus tubs, empty trashcans and manage dumpster areas.
• Clean and mop all assigned kitchen and service areas, including proper glass disposal and recycling.
• Follow all safety, security and hazardous‑material procedures, reporting incidents promptly.
• Support team members, communicate professionally and protect company assets.

Required profile

• Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lb without assistance.
• Physical stamina for standing, walking and bending for extended periods.
• Attention to detail and commitment to hygiene standards.
• Willingness to follow safety protocols and complete required training.
• Positive attitude and teamwork orientation.
