About the role
Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a full‑time KS1 Teaching Assistant for a busy, inclusive primary school in Birkenhead, Wirral. The role supports early literacy, numeracy and classroom routines for Key Stage 1 pupils on a term‑time contract starting in September.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher with group work and classroom organisation.
- Provide early reading support, phonics instruction and behaviour management.
- Prepare teaching resources and help create a calm, engaging learning environment.
- Deliver light one‑to‑one intervention where required.
Required profile
- Experience working with KS1 pupils.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow teacher guidance.
- Confidence in supporting early literacy and phonics (desirable).
