KS1 Teaching Assistant

About the role

The Education Network is partnering with a primary school in Crook to find a qualified Teaching Assistant for Key Stage 1. You will support pupils in the Early Years and KS1 curriculum, helping them achieve daily learning goals in a caring classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery for KS1 pupils.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to children who need additional help.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom atmosphere.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to the teacher.
• Support behaviour management strategies and promote positive interactions.

Required profile

• Qualified Teaching Assistant status (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
• Recent experience working with children in Early Years or KS1 settings, either in school or a care environment.
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undergo enhanced DBS and other checks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and families.

Required skills

• Understanding of KS1 curriculum and early years pedagogy.
• Effective communication with children and adults.
• Basic record‑keeping and observation skills.
