KS2 Teaching Assistant – Full‑time Primary School Role

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Islington on a full‑time basis. The role involves supporting KS2 pupils across the classroom, including those with SEND, and delivering targeted interventions in maths, literacy and phonics. The position runs from September 2026 until July 2027, offering a long‑term opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils' learning and development.

Key responsibilities

• Support KS2 pupils during lessons and independent learning activities.
• Deliver targeted interventions in maths, literacy and phonics as required.
• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD and speech‑language needs.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of mixed‑ability classrooms.
• Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and confidence in all students.
• Assist the class teacher with classroom preparation and organisation.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Build constructive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a primary school environment.
• Proven ability to support KS2 pupils across the curriculum.
• Experience working with SEND pupils, particularly autism, ADHD and speech‑language difficulties.
• Proactive, adaptable and confident in mixed‑ability settings.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Passion for motivating children to achieve their full potential.
