KS2 Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Mitcham)

About the role

The school in Mitcham is seeking a motivated KS2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Years 3‑6 during term time. Working full‑time on‑site, you will help deliver the KS2 curriculum and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support individual pupils and small groups across the KS2 curriculum under the class teacher’s direction.
• Provide targeted interventions for pupils with SEND or additional needs.
• Assist in preparing teaching resources, displays and classroom materials.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to assessments.
• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional wellbeing.
• Liaise with teachers, the SENCO and other staff to ensure appropriate support.
• Uphold safeguarding policies and maintain a safe learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with primary‑age children, preferably at KS2 level.
• Patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Holding or working towards a relevant teaching assistant or education qualification.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills to support curriculum delivery.
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and raising outcomes for all pupils.
