KS3 Teacher – SEMH Setting (Full‑time Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated KS3 Teacher to join a specialist boys' school in Dorking. The school supports pupils aged 9‑16 who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, with many also facing moderate learning and attachment difficulties. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), requiring thoughtful, personalised instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging KS3 lessons that address the diverse needs, interests and abilities of each pupil.
• Adapt teaching strategies to support students with SEMH challenges and moderate learning difficulties.
• Collaborate with classroom assistants to provide additional support and build pupils' confidence and self‑esteem.
• Monitor progress, assess outcomes and adjust approaches to ensure effective learning.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and relationships.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑age pupils who have SEMH or similar needs.
• Understanding of EHCP frameworks and how to tailor instruction accordingly.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage small class sizes.
• Commitment to fostering a supportive, nurturing learning atmosphere.
