KS4 Tutor for Year 10 Student (English, Maths, Science)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated KS4 tutor to support a Year 10 student in achieving GCSE qualifications in English, Maths and Science. Sessions will be delivered outside of school, in a public venue agreed with the student and professionals, providing a flexible and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one tuition in one or two core subjects, adapting content to the student’s emotional state.
• Build trust and confidence through a nurturing approach, focusing first on relationship‑building.
• Monitor progress and adjust pacing, aiming to prepare the student for functional skills assessment and eventual GCSE exams.
• Collaborate with local authority staff and other tutors to ensure a coordinated provision.

Required profile

• Minimum six months UK‑based experience in education or tutoring.
• Experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Ability to employ emotional regulation strategies and adapt sessions flexibly.
• Patient, nurturing attitude with a focus on building resilience and self‑belief.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of SEMH support techniques.
• Effective communication and relationship‑building skills.
