KS4 Tutor – Functional Skills English & Maths for Year 11

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated KS4 Tutor to support a Year 11 student placed in a forest school setting. The role focuses on rebuilding the learner’s confidence and re‑engaging them with education through Functional Skills English and Maths.
Key responsibilities
- Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the student.
- Deliver tailored Functional Skills English and Maths sessions.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the student’s SEMH needs and emotional state.
- Collaborate with the forest school provision and local authority to monitor progress.
- Provide feedback on the student’s confidence, engagement and academic development.
Required profile
- Minimum six months of UK‑based experience in education or tutoring.
- Experience working with young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Patience, adaptability and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- Ability to tailor sessions according to emotional regulation and therapeutic approaches.
Required skills
- Strong understanding of emotional regulation and therapeutic approaches.
- Ability to modify teaching methods and expectations based on individual needs.
