Kubernetes Platform Engineer – London/Paris

About the role

Our client, a global quantitative and systematic investment manager, is building a new team to operate and evolve Kubernetes platforms across cloud and on‑premise environments. The Kubernetes Platform Engineer will ensure stability, scalability and performance of clusters that run mission‑critical workloads for the firm’s trading and data applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead implementation of highly available, scalable, secure Kubernetes clusters (on‑prem and cloud).
• Provide Kubernetes as a self‑service product to internal teams, including namespace provisioning, templated jobs and onboarding flows.
• Build reusable platform patterns and deployment blueprints using Helm, Kustomize or custom controllers.
• Develop and maintain GitOps workflows with ArgoCD, Flux and GitLab CI.
• Design tenancy‑aware RBAC, network policies and secrets management at scale.
• Implement policy‑as‑code using OPA/Gatekeeper for compliance and multi‑tenancy.
• Create observability stacks to monitor cluster health, workload status and policy violations, exposing data via dashboards or APIs.
• Manage clusters across production, staging and development environments and troubleshoot infrastructure, container and networking issues.
• Support application teams with onboarding and deployment, shifting operations to automation.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response for Kubernetes and containerised applications.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, deploying and operating Kubernetes clusters in both cloud and on‑premise settings.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes internals, CRDs, CNIs and storage provisioning.
• Experience delivering self‑service platform capabilities and GitOps automation.
• Ability to define and enforce RBAC, network policies and secrets management at scale.
• Familiarity with policy‑as‑code tools such as OPA/Gatekeeper.
• Experience building observability solutions for clusters.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and networking issues.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation and incident response.
• Proficiency in Python, Go or similar languages for tooling or controller development.
• Up‑to‑date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
