Lab Technician – Part‑time Temporary (20 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking a Lab Technician to support the day‑to‑day operations of a busy R&D laboratory in North London. This part‑time, temporary position offers 20 hours per week and is ideal for candidates who can start immediately and want to gain hands‑on experience in a regulated biotech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory housekeeping and assistive duties to ensure smooth workflow.
• Monitor consumables, manage waste, and operate washing and autoclave equipment.
• Track maintenance issues and receive deliveries.
• Prepare reagents, buffers and media according to protocols.
• Develop and update SOPs, risk assessments and COSHH documentation as skills develop.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a supportive or assistive laboratory role, preferably within a biological/biotech setting.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and regulated lab requirements.
• Immediate availability to start in London and legal right to work in the UK.

What we offer

• £15.75 per hour (visible salary)
• 20‑hour work week, Monday‑Friday (approximately 10:00‑14:30)
• Initial six‑month contract with potential extension
• Start date week commencing 27 July or 3 August
