Laboratory Technician – Microbiology (Shift)

About the role

Join Highland Spring’s technical team as a Laboratory Technician, working across The Fells and Blackford sites. You will perform microbiological testing on source and finished water products, ensuring compliance with quality, safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct microbiological testing of source and finished water samples, including flavoured waters.
• Prepare media, collect and transfer samples between The Fells and Blackford laboratories.
• Interpret and report results using the Laboratory IT system within required timescales.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, support maintenance and perform confirmation, proficiency and environmental monitoring tests.
• Report out‑of‑specification results, support quarantine procedures and monitor filtration pressures.
• Assist with shelf‑life testing, laboratory cleaning and HPLC analysis as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an FMCG laboratory environment.
• Full UK driving licence (essential for site travel).
• Knowledge of natural mineral water regulations, membrane filtration techniques and HPLC systems.
• Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise in a busy department.
