Latin Graduate Teacher – Earn While You Teach

About the role

Join a secondary school in Hertfordshire as a Latin Graduate teacher on a salaried Schools Direct programme. This full‑time, term‑time position allows you to earn while you gain classroom experience and work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Latin and related humanities subjects to KS3‑4 pupils.
• Deliver interventions for GCSE and A‑Level students to raise attainment.
• Maintain a teaching load of 15‑20 periods per week, increasing gradually.
• Participate in one dedicated training day each week.
• Collaborate with the Humanities department to support curriculum planning.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Classics, Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation, Ancient History, English Literature, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Medieval Studies, History, Archaeology, History of Art, Philosophy, Theology or Religious Studies.
• Strong academic record (good A‑Levels and GCSEs).
• Confidence in delivering both GCSE and A‑Level curricula.
• Ability to engage and motivate students.
