Lead AI Engineer - Remote

About the role

Our client is building a cutting‑edge AI platform that powers fast, accurate customer service. They are expanding globally and need a Lead AI Engineer to drive computer‑vision, video analysis and multimodal LLM projects from research to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train and deploy computer‑vision models (object detection, classification, segmentation, multimodal learning).
• Fine‑tune, evaluate and productionise multimodal large language models for business use‑cases.
• Architect end‑to‑end, scalable ML pipelines on Azure, ensuring reproducibility and monitoring.
• Lead the data‑science team by setting technical direction, mentoring members and promoting best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and business stakeholders to align AI strategy with commercial goals.
• Drive experimentation, prototyping and evaluation of advanced AI techniques.

Required profile

• Strong, current Python development experience, including building production services with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Proven track record of shipping computer‑vision models to production, not just prototypes.
• Hands‑on experience with a vision labeling toolchain such as Roboflow, covering dataset management and model evaluation.
• Experience with Azure AI services (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI) or comparable cloud AI stacks.
• Understanding of regulated environments – data residency, de‑identification, model governance and explainability.
• Ability to scope problems, decide when a model is ready for release and work autonomously.
