Lead AWS DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead AWS DevOps Engineer to join our managed services team. In this senior technical leadership position you will combine hands‑on engineering with architectural ownership, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement to deliver secure, scalable cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, evolve and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud architectures.
• Lead infrastructure automation initiatives using Terraform and other IaC tools.
• Develop, enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentorship to DevOps engineers.
• Drive cloud security, governance and operational best practices.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technical stakeholders.
• Support complex cloud migrations, modernisation and transformation programmes.
• Participate in an on‑call rota to support critical production services.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in DevOps, platform engineering or cloud architecture.
• Deep expertise across AWS services and cloud‑native architectures.
• Strong background in Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Advanced scripting and automation skills with Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and modern CI/CD practices.
• Excellent understanding of cloud security, networking and governance.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and engage senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams in Agile delivery environments.
