Lead Buyer – Information Technology

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Buyer to shape procurement strategies across a broad range of technology categories. Based in Hertfordshire with hybrid working, you will operate in a collaborative international environment supporting the defence sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities for software, hardware, cyber, networks and digital services.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business needs.
• Manage supplier engagement, negotiations and commercial agreements.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the UK and Europe.
• Contribute to category management initiatives and procurement transformation projects.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement, purchasing or sourcing within indirect spend categories.
• Interest or experience in IT procurement.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proven capability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
• Experience negotiating contracts and commercial terms.
• MCIPS qualification or willingness to pursue it is advantageous.

• Effective stakeholder management and relationship building.
