Lead Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to provide hands‑on technical leadership within our enterprise data engineering capability. In this senior, non‑managerial position you will design, build, and improve real‑world data systems that span legacy platforms and modern cloud services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance enterprise‑scale data pipelines, platforms and services.
• Lead complex data engineering projects from problem definition through testing and production use.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to translate operational problems into data solutions.
• Analyse and synthesize multi‑source datasets, shaping data structure, validation and consumption.
• Provide technical direction to other data engineers through design decisions, code reviews and delivery support.
• Improve data sharing, onboarding of new sources and interoperability across teams.
• Introduce and evaluate new tools and patterns where they add genuine value.
• Treat metadata, lineage and data quality as first‑class engineering concerns.
• Diagnose and resolve complex data and platform issues in constrained environments.

Required profile

• Significant hands‑on experience as a Senior or Lead Data Engineer on complex production systems.
• Strong Python and Spark expertise with proven delivery of production pipelines.
• Deep understanding of the full data engineering lifecycle: ingestion, transformation, storage, serving and reuse.
• Experience designing robust data integrations and ensuring data quality.
