Lead Data Engineer – £400/day (Outside IR35)

About the role
We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to own core data engineering and architecture work while providing technical leadership to a delivery team. This hands‑on senior position combines designing scalable, cloud‑native data solutions with mentoring engineers who build them.
Key responsibilities
- Lead core data engineering and architecture initiatives, setting technical direction and best practices.
- Design, build and maintain scalable, cloud‑native data pipelines and integration workflows.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to delivery teams.
- Apply deep expertise with dbt for data transformation and modelling.
Required profile
- Proven experience in data engineering with demonstrable architecture and technical leadership.
- Hands‑on expertise with dbt.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft data stack (Fabric, Power BI, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory).
- Working knowledge of Databricks and AWS environments (Redshift, RDS).
- Solid grounding in database technologies, API architecture, data warehousing and ETL/ELT patterns.
- UK‑based with full right to work in the UK.
