Lead Data Scientist – Commercial

About the role

This commercial Lead Data Scientist position sits at the crossroads of product, analytics and AI within a fast‑growing, product‑led digital platform. You will help shape commercial outcomes by identifying high‑impact problems, sizing opportunities and delivering data‑driven product improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the data voice inside product teams, influencing decisions from ideation to delivery.
• Identify and define business problems with a focus on commercial impact and customer outcomes.
• Conduct opportunity sizing, exploratory analysis and deep‑dive product analytics.
• Design and run experiments, including A/B testing, and perform post‑test analysis.
• Define success metrics, dashboards and measurement frameworks with stakeholders.
• Translate analytical findings into clear recommendations that guide investment decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering and data engineers to build data‑driven product features.
• Apply light‑touch data‑science techniques such as segmentation, forecasting and recommendation models.
• Prototype AI‑enhanced product capabilities using emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Proven commercial experience using data to drive measurable business outcomes.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into structured analytical approaches.
• Experience with product/customer analytics, experimentation and statistical analysis.
• Strong stakeholder management and influence across cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• SQL
• Python or R
• Understanding of modern data platforms and dashboarding tools
• Experiment design, hypothesis testing and sample sizing
• Practical experience with AI or machine‑learning tools
