Lead Electrical Engineer

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer for its Stockton office. The role leads and takes part in designing electrical systems for projects across nuclear, defence, process, pharmaceuticals and other industries. It covers the full design lifecycle, from concept and basic design to detail design, and supports procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the design aspects of projects, including estimating hours for scope changes and supporting schedules
• Produce multi-discipline design documentation such as requirement documents, basis of design, verification plans, quality plans and design justification reports
• Independently determine project requirements and review and check design documents and electrical deliverables
• Support design reviews, CDM-compliant reporting, and bid and tender information including work-hour and cost estimates
• Mentor apprentices, graduates and junior engineers, and help produce department procedures, work instructions, design guides and templates
• Interface with the integrated design team, facilities team and other project functions

Required profile

• Project delivery experience, including optioneering, front-end and detail design, procurement and support of construction, testing and commissioning
• Ability to manage design delivery teams and work collaboratively
• Experience of formal business management systems

Required skills

• BS7671 (Wiring Regulations) and machinery safety / UKCA marking
• Switchgear standards BS EN 62271 and BS EN 60947, and BS EN 60909 fault level studies
• SKM Powertools or ETAP
• Lightning protection, earthing, touch and step potential, and surge protection
