Lead Engineer

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a prestigious high‑end residential project in Fitzrovia as a Lead Engineer. You will manage a team of four engineers and split your time 50/50 between on‑site work and hands‑on tool duties, ensuring the building operates smoothly and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Perform electrical fault‑finding, diagnostics and emergency lighting testing.
• Monitor and operate Building Management System (BMS) equipment.
• Maintain air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), pumps and motors.
• Conduct water‑treatment checks and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Supervise subcontractors, guaranteeing safe and quality workmanship.
• Maintain accurate site logbooks and produce regular reports.
• Build strong relationships with clients and occupants.
• Support and oversee on‑site engineers to ensure seamless building operation.

Required profile

• City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installations, or a mechanical qualification.
• Strong commercial building maintenance experience, preferably with an electrical bias.
• Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.
• Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good client‑facing and communication skills.
• Apprenticeship training is desirable.
