Lead Engineer – Telecoms & Unified Communications

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to head the design and delivery of resilient telecoms and unified communications systems for critical, safety‑focused operations. The role sits within a multidisciplinary engineering team and works in a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the full lifecycle of telecoms, UC and ICT systems.
• Design and oversee implementation of telephony, radio, and enterprise data networks.
• Ensure secure network architecture and cyber‑resilience in line with industry standards.
• Collaborate with security specialists, suppliers and other engineering disciplines to produce robust system architectures.
• Manage testing, commissioning and hand‑over of completed solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering telecoms or ICT projects in regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence, aerospace or critical infrastructure.
• Strong background in system architecture, specification and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage suppliers.

Required skills

• Telephony (analogue, digital, SIP, Unified Communications)
• Radio communications (TETRA, DMR, P25, LTE/MCX)
• Enterprise networking (LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, SD‑WAN, SDN)
• Network security and cyber‑resilience
• IEC 62443 or equivalent cyber‑security standards
• System architecture, testing and commissioning
