Lead File Handler – Industrial Disease Claims

About the role

As part of our on‑going growth strategy, we are looking for a Lead File Handler to join our Industrial Disease team in Liverpool. You will own a caseload of NIHL and other disease claims, make a real impact on client outcomes, shape team strategy, mentor junior colleagues and drive innovation and growth within a dynamic, supportive and sociable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your caseload efficiently, reviewing documents, handling disclosure, preparing reports and progressing claims.
• Conduct investigations with insurers and insured parties, gather and assess witness statements, and liaise with experts.
• Attend court appointments, conferences and trials, ensuring deadlines and court timetables are met.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and colleagues, providing clear instructions and effective communication.
• Mentor and develop Assistant File Handlers, ensuring work aligns with SRA standards and Keoghs values.

Required profile

• Strong technical proficiency in handling NIHL disease claims; experience in other disease matters is a plus.
• Effective negotiator with excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
• Highly self‑motivated, able to prioritise, organise and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proactive contributor to team growth, sharing knowledge, supporting training and improving processes.
