Lead Formulation and Analytical Scientist

About the role

This senior position combines hands‑on scientific expertise with people‑leadership to shape and expand formulation and analytical capabilities at a growing pharmaceutical site. You will guide a small team while delivering solid‑dosage development projects in a collaborative, highly technical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the site’s analytical and formulation capabilities.
• Manage and mentor a team of three scientists.
• Drive solid‑dosage formulation activities such as blending, granulation, tableting and encapsulation.
• Provide analytical support across programmes using chromatography and material‑characterisation techniques.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to meet scientific and client objectives.
• Contribute to strategic planning and future growth of the function.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives and promote scientific excellence.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong background spanning both formulation and analytical development.
• Hands‑on experience with solid‑dosage form development and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated leadership or people‑management experience.
• Commercial awareness and motivation to build capability and improve processes.
• Experience in a pharma company, CRO or CDMO is advantageous; GMP knowledge beneficial.

Required skills

• Solid‑dosage form development (blending, granulation, tableting, encapsulation).
• Chromatography techniques (HPLC, UPLC).
• Material characterisation, dissolution and stability testing.
• Method development and validation.
• Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) knowledge.
