Lead IT Buyer

About the role

Join a global engineering organisation as a Lead IT Buyer, overseeing procurement of a wide range of technology solutions across the UK and Europe. You will work within a collaborative procurement team, driving sourcing initiatives for software, hardware, cyber security, networks, AI and related IT services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end procurement projects for diverse IT spend categories.
• Manage sourcing activities for software, SaaS, hardware, cyber security, networks, AI, high‑performance computing and IT services.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers across the UK and Europe.
• Support Category Managers by delivering complex projects from tender through contract award.
• Negotiate commercial agreements to achieve value, mitigate risk and ensure supplier performance.
• Collaborate with international procurement teams on cross‑border sourcing initiatives.
• Travel within the UK and Europe for supplier and stakeholder meetings as required.

Required profile

• Experience in IT procurement or a strong interest in developing a career in this area.
• Background in managing indirect procurement categories.
• Knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiations.
• Understanding of technology procurement, including software, hardware or IT services.
• MCIPS qualification or working towards it.
• Experience working with international stakeholders or suppliers.
• Eligibility for UK security clearance (British citizenship).
