Lead Learning Support Assistant

About the role

The Lead Learning Support Assistant (Lead LSA) will join the Foundation Department at the Slough and Langley campus on a term‑time, full‑time basis. Working 37 hours across 38 term‑time weeks, the Lead LSA supports inclusive learning, guides fellow LSAs and steps in to deliver planned lessons when required.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and mentor other Learning Support Assistants, developing effective support strategies for lessons and community settings.
• Lead planned classes in the lecturer’s absence, ensuring delivery aligns with each student’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Collaborate with tutors to plan, adapt and evaluate learning activities in English, mathematics and ICT.
• Maintain daily administrative records, including registers, student profiles and performance reports.
• Manage specialist 1:1 learning equipment and support internal specialist appointments such as Speech and Language Therapy.
• Assist students with assignments, exam preparation and core skill development.
• Work with pastoral teams to address physical, emotional or learning barriers, including support for mobility‑impaired learners.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting learners with a range of SEND needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, PMLD, SLD).
• Level 2 qualifications (GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and ICT.
• Strong organisational ability, professional initiative and accountability.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and neurodivergent perspectives.
