Lead Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join a fast‑growing company in the sustainability sector. Based in Sittingbourne, you will lead a small team of technicians while staying hands‑on with cutting‑edge mechanical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform reactive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical faults on conveyors, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Lead, mentor and develop a small team of maintenance technicians.
• Ensure the smooth running of site operations on a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern, covering days and nights.
• Maintain high standards of safety and equipment reliability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a hands‑on mechanical maintenance role.
• Background in manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
• Desire to take on a leadership position and guide a team.
• Ability to react quickly to problems, minimise downtime and communicate clearly.
