Lead Scaffolder

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Scaffolder to join our Milton Keynes team on a new social‑housing contract. The role involves overseeing high‑standard repairs and refurbishment projects, ensuring safety, quality and customer satisfaction throughout.

Key responsibilities

• Erect, modify and dismantle a variety of scaffolding structures, including suspended scaffolds, chimney stacks, access towers and independent scaffolds.
• Supervise scaffold labourers and second‑tier scaffolders, providing guidance and ensuring safe working practices.
• Load and unload scaffolding equipment on‑site and secure a stable base for all structures.
• Fit planking, guard rails, safety netting and other safety components.
• Carry out fault finding, construction and maintenance repairs, aiming for first‑time completion within budget and schedule.
• Maintain accurate electronic records using a handheld device (worksheets, timesheets, photos, risk assessments, etc.).
• Interact professionally with service users, clients and internal stakeholders, gathering feedback where required.

Required profile

• Valid GOLD Card in scaffolding.
• Previous experience as a charge‑hand or lead scaffolder.
• Full UK driving licence with the ability to operate a 7.5‑ton lorry.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and handle manual lifting tasks.

Required skills

• Scaffolding erection and dismantling techniques.
• Knowledge of safety standards for guard rails, safety netting and platform construction.
• Proficiency with handheld electronic devices for reporting and documentation.
• Driving and vehicle handling skills for large‑capacity lorries.
