Lead School Chef

About the role

We are supporting a warm, community‑focused infant school in North West London that seeks an experienced Lead School Chef. This term‑time only position offers the chance to run a busy, well‑equipped kitchen while delivering healthy, nutritious meals for pupils and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals in line with school food standards.
• Manage day‑to‑day kitchen operations safely and efficiently.
• Supervise kitchen staff and ensure high standards of hygiene.
• Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and allergen guidance.
• Control stock, place orders and monitor food quality and presentation.
• Collaborate with school leadership and other staff members.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a school kitchen environment.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of food safety and allergen management.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently with a proactive, positive attitude.
• Experience leading or managing a kitchen team is desirable.
• Passion for preparing nutritious meals for children.
