Lead Service Engineer / Service Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established precision‑engineering company to find a Lead Service Engineer / Service Manager. The role is field‑based, with around 80 % of the time spent travelling to customer sites across East Anglia, delivering service, repair and calibration work while leading a team of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on service, repair and validation/calibration tasks at customer locations.
• Lead and coordinate a team of seven service engineers, allocating jobs and ensuring optimal coverage.
• Provide technical guidance and day‑to‑day leadership to the engineering team.
• Act as the senior point of contact for customers, handling queries and resolving issues.
• Support commercial activities, including pricing of labour and spare parts.
• Assess warranty claims and make balanced decisions.
• Contribute to the growth and profitability of service contracts.
• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement to increase efficiency and first‑time‑fix rates.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with electrical and electromechanical systems.
• Proven background as a service or field engineer with leadership or coordination responsibilities.
• Willingness to be based in or relocate to Essex, Suffolk or Cambridgeshire (East Anglia).
• Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and high‑quality workmanship.
