Lead Shift Engineer

About the role

As a Lead Shift Engineer at a major FMCG manufacturing site in Blackpool, you will combine hands‑on technical expertise with strong people leadership. You will be responsible for the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of a 24/7 production operation, working closely with production, engineering and support teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a multi‑skilled team of engineers in a high‑volume environment.
• Plan, prioritize and coordinate both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with production and operational teams to drive efficiency and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Champion health & safety, food safety, engineering compliance and best‑practice standards.
• Promote a proactive engineering culture focused on reliability and teamwork.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with solid practical experience.
• Proven leadership, supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience in fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) or food manufacturing is advantageous.
• IOSH and food‑safety/hygiene qualifications are beneficial.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision‑making abilities.
